LA trip

Here is some of the delicious vegetarian food I ate while visiting Stephanie in Los Angeles over spring break.

Park Tavern

Tonight I ate at Park Tavern with Whitney and Cassandra. It was a great atmosphere, a little chilly, but we ate outside with the view of the midtown skyline. I tried the baja California roll and was happily surprised that it was DELICOUS. Quite possibly the best sushi I've had in Atlanta which I didn't expect at all from a restaurant that seemed to randomly add sushi to a pub burger menu. The side salad was also great with just the right amount of ginger dressing and crunchy wonton like pieces. I also had a hot caramel cider type drink that helped the night not be so chilly outside.http://www.parktavern.com/

The Sound Table

It didn't occur to me until this post that I have been eating a LOT of burgers recently. On top of this post I also ate lunch at Yeah! Burger today. Guess it's a trend. Our appetizer was fried chick peas with curry salt, lemon, and crispy capers. Delicious. http://www.thesoundtable.com/

Buckhead Bottle Bar

Friday night before heading to the Atlanta Ballet, Cassandra and I tried Buckhead Bottle Bar. I had the rice veggie burger with a starter of mac and cheese spring rolls. We also shared a side of fries, which was a good decision because it was a huge portion and we couldn't even finish it between both of us. My mac and cheese spring rolls were delicious and came with a spicy sauce that I used to flavor my sort of bland veggie burger. Overall it was a good dinner. http://www.buckheadbottlebar.com/

The Square Pub

Last night Cassandra, Whitney and I ate at the Square Pub in Decatur. http://www.squarepubdecatur.com/spd/Home.html. All the food looked very appetizing, but I was a little disappointed with mine. My blackbean burger had spicy green chiles all through it and I could barely finish it. The butternut squash soup I had as my side was bland. The best part of the meal was the hummus trio that we shared to begin with. The pita chips were freshly made and delicious and the red pepper hummus was my favorite.

Soho Sushi Tampa

While I was in Tampa this week, both nights I ate at Soho Sushi. It was amazing.

Across the Street

Vegetable Chimichanga over black beans and salsa verde.

Ana, Whitney and I ate at Across the Street last Saturday. The decor inside the restaurant is really cute. However, the wait was FOREVER. We waited atleast 20 minutes for any service, and were there for over two hours mostly waiting for food. I filled up on chips so I saved the majority of my meal and it wasn't as good left over. Disappointing, but thats what you get with scoutmob places sometimes.http://www.acrossthestreetatlanta.com/

Thaicoon

First take out since I've been back from winter break. Shrimp tempura roll with cream cheese added and an avocado roll.

Fado

Last night we tried to eat at Cellar 56, but they were booked...booo... so we ended up eating at Fado. I had the quesadillas. They were good, but I felt so unhealthy afterwards.

Burger King Sundae

Burger King has a caramel sundae for a dollar! Yes I ate there today because it is the nicest and closest place to eat near the south dekalb clinic I work at.

Organics To Go Spaghetti Marinara

So this meal was $5.99, one of the cheapest options at the school organic place. It was pretty darn delicious. I have class from 1-3 and 5-7 so depending on my hunger level I may be getting an early dinner from there at around 4:30 too. I have to get home and get ready to watch the Bachelor tonight (!!!) so no time for long dinner preparations after class.

Cafe Nineteen

Last night Cassandra, Whitney, and I used a Scoutmob at Cafe Nineteen. I had the chicken salad on a croissant with chips. It was a very unique chicken salad with larger pieces of chicken and less of a mayonnaise taste. I really liked it! http://cafenineteen.com/

Blue Crab and Corn Soup Trader Joes

So this soup was in the refrigerated section of Trader Joes where the premade meals are. It is Maryland Blue Crab and Corn Soup. I didn't have very high expectations but it was AWESOME. I'm definitely buying it again. It has nice big hunks of potato in it too.

Mexican Feast

Yum! Cheese quesadillas with black beans, salsa, sour cream, and avocado.

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

This week I am celebrating the one year anniversary of my food blog. I posted the original idea on January 19, 2010, and the posts started about a week later.

Thank you to all my faithful viewers!

Burger King Veggie Burger

So the clinic I work at sometimes is in somewhat of a food desert. It's hard to pick where to eat lunch. I usually eat chinese but yesterday decided to try a new Burger King. I got their veggie burger and was so pleasantly surprised that it was good! They use Morningstar patties and put all the same toppings as a Whopper. I really wish McDonalds did this because I like their fries/options of fruit and yogurt better than BK.

Ricotta and Avocado Soft Tacos

These were my Ricotta and Avocado Soft Tacos...that kind of turned into ricotta and black bean quesadillas. My avocado wasn't ripe yet. I wouldn't really recommend the changes I made.

Organics To Go

The new organic cafe opened at school today. Ordering was a bit chaotic. Apparently if you order a sandwich you have to get one of their premade ones in the freezer. I looked at them and the avocado had already browned in some so I assume they were mushy.

After some confusion and them not having the Cali Veggie pre-made, I got my sandwich freshly made. It was delicious as was the vegetable barley soup. Although it was so good, it was Expensive! Almost twice as what the old school sub shop was. They also have pasta, pizza, salads and quesadillas which I know I will be tempted to try, but organic really doesn't come cheap!

Asparagus Pasta

So yesterday when I went to Trader Joes I had the idea to actually start making some of the recipes from my 5 ingredient vegetarian cookbook. Remember, I hate to cook! So I have to stay simple. Last night I made the pasta with asparagus which was about as simple as you can get. I burnt the asparagus about black, but it tasted pretty good anyways, just a little crispy. Other recipes on my list for the week include ricotta and avocado tacos, black bean quesadillas, and broccoli and tofu in peanut sauce. All from fresh ingredients. I am trying (trying hard!) to get away from my all frozen and take out food existence.

Panera Bread Mango Smoothie

I had been craving a smoothie for 3 days now. Mission accomplished!

New McDonalds Milkshake

Apparently McDonalds has gone the way of Hardees and Chickfila and made their milkshakes "fancy". I miss the old ones. This picture is from my traditional "driving back to Atlanta" Mcdonalds stop. I got a chicken nugget combo instead of a kids meal and it was wayyy too much food. It also made me go over my calories for the day on MyFitnessPal by almost twice. No more McDonalds for me!

Salem Street Pub

The Salem Street Pub is in Apex on Salem St. Their fry sauce is THE BEST - ask for it special. I got a rice and black bean burger American style and a house salad with ranch instead of fries. I dipped my burger in the fry sauce. http://salemstreetpub.com/

Scallops and Grits

Yummy dinner that dad made on my last night home!

Farmer's Market

Today I met Dad for lunch at the Farmer's Market restaurant. I had a veggie plate with mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs, and okra. It also came with a biscuit and peach cobbler for dessert.

Pei Wei

Tonight I met Kelly at Pei Wei for dinner. On the way I noticed there is an AT&T store next door, so I also got my new iphone 4! At Pei Wei I ordered the Pad Thai. Everything labeled as spicy there is REALLY spicy! Other than that, it was very good. This picture was taken with my iphone and I'm happy about how good the camera is. I was planning to drive back to Atlanta tomorrow, but due to icy conditions on the road and my classes being canceled- now I'm not going back until Sunday.

La Perlita

We asked around for what a good "local" place to eat would be and heard about La Perlita. I think it was a tourist trap because it was pretty expensive! We did hear that they often have different prices for locals and tourists. However, our taxi driver there spoke no English so I got to be the translator for the whole ride and that was fun for me. The food was also very good and fresh. I loved how the chips came with pico de gallo and guacamole everywhere in Cozumel. I had sopa de mariscos - and i found out anything that is general "seafood" soup has a lot of tentacles in it. Mom's meal of shrimp shish kabob was deemed to be the best out of everything we ate.

First Breakfast in Cozumel

The first morning at the resort I was so excited I got up and went to breakfast by myself. I was amused how the coco krispies were "choco krispis de melvin" there. I also had some cottage cheese, a few pan dulces, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, and fried plantains.

Christmas Eve Dinner

Before I get into the Mexico pictures - I will start with our Christmas Eve dinner. Dad made us prime rib, scallops, salad, corn, garlic mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs. For dessert we had a delicious chocolate pudding. Can't believe it was just over a week ago!

Cozumel

I just returned from Cozumel and can't wait to post about all the great meals I had there. Stay tuned!
