Scrambled Eggs & Sweet Potato Fries
Here is an example of how sometimes I eat weird things. The other night I had sweet potato fries and scrambled eggs for dinner. It was actually a pretty good meal. I haven't had scrambled eggs in so long and I had some colby jack cheese to mix in them. mmmm. Makes me want to make some more right now, but I used most of my eggs making brownies over the weekend.

Chickfila Boxed Lunch
Today I snagged the last leftover boxed lunch at work. I put the chips back because I recently found out a bag of chips that size has 15g of fat. This was a vegetarian cool wrap. I like that it came with a purell sanitizing hand wipe and a mint. I also learned that I don't like Sprite Zero. Easier to learn what you don't like when it's free!

Starbucks
I had an interview this morning so afterwards on the way to work I treated myself to a blueberry scone and a grande caramel frappechino. I haven't had starbucks in SO long. There were also a few snow flurries this morning so it was strange drinking an iced coffee- but I'm ready for warm weather so I decided not to go hot.

Majestic Omelet
I recently ate at the Majestic Diner that's pretty near my apartment on Ponce de Leon Ave. It's right next to the Urban Outfitters so I got a dress and skirt for $10 each too. For lunch I had a vanilla milkshake and the Olympian omelet. I thought that was appropriate because the Olympics are on right now. It was a Greek twist on omelet with onions, tomato, green pepper, mushrooms and feta cheese. It came with tatziki sause (!!! love that), grits and 2 pieces of buttered bread. It was FABULOUS! I want to go back and try one of the omelets with cheddar cheese in them, but mine was REALLY good! http://www.majesticdiner.com/

Thai Dinner & Peaches Dessert
For dinner tonight I had Thai takeout and yogurt with peaches for dessert. I also added some almonds and chocolate to the yogurt and it was sooooo good. I usually don't eat dessert, but the Bachelor is on tonight and I have to have something to eat while watching. I usually have a nerd rope but that is pretty unhealthy so I'm trying some better choices.
Uncrustables and Fanta
This was the first time I had tried an Uncrustable and I have to say it was really good. I don't understand how they keep the bread from getting soggy and still have enough jelly on it. hmmm... My other random thought is that how come they never sell cherry fanta? This one in the picture is strawberry. I see grape, orange, strawberry in the store all the time but never cherry! If you know where to buy cherry fanta please tell me!!!
Pork Gyoza
This is the pork gyoza appetizer from Ra. I didn't post it with the other sushi pictures 2 posts back. I usually don't like pork in asian dishes, but this was pretty good. The sauce was very tangy though. I ended up dipping them in a sauce that came with another dish. This was also one of the half price appetizers, which explains how I can occasionally order 3 and 4 course meals as a poor grad student. :)

Happy Hour Sushi
Yogurt
VortexT
I usually don't even like burgers, but the Vortex has amazing ones. This is a guacamole burger with a side of fried plantains and an appetizer of kari kari at the Vortex. I still think the Steakhouse burger is their best burger because no guacamole compares to Cassandra's but it was pretty good. I also enjoyed the fried plantains, but you get more if you order the sweet potato fries. The kari kari was filled with crab and cream cheese and came with sweet and sour and soy dipping sauces. http://www.thevortexbarandgrill.com/

Guacamole (&tres leches cake) Night!
Lots of pictures from guacamole night! Cassandra makes the best guacamole ever and she always brings it to parties-- so tonight we had a get together just as an excuse to eat her guacamole and watch the Olympics. We were hoping for men's figure skating, but some kind of skiing and snowboarding were on instead. Oh well. It's the first time I've really sat down to watch the Olympics so I enjoyed it. She also makes this tres leches cake that is AMAZING. I can't even describe it, if I tried to it would sound bad because it's almost "soggy" with milk...but soggy has a bad connotation and this cake is like heaven. With a cherry on top.
On the Border
A perk of working in a medical office is that you get free food all the time. Today it was On The Border. I hadn't eaten there since my terrible experience last Cinco de Mayo, but this chicken wrap and rice were pretty good. I'm saving the rest of the salsa for my chips at home. Now I have to run out to my car to feed the meter before I get another parking ticket. They are crazy about ticketing around here.

Greek!
Kroger sells dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) that actually taste just like ones you would get at a GOOD greek restaurant. I got some of those and the little mozzerella balls from the olive bar. The pasta salad was also from Kroger and a little prepackaged container, yum. AND one of my favorite drinks-- Izze Sparkling Pomegranate.

Ballet & Coconut Chicken Soup
The cutest Valentine's Day card ever! It's from Angela and I love it. Appropriate because I'm headed to dance class after I post this!
Coconut chicken soup from Top Spice in Toco Hills http://www.topspiceatlanta.com/. Lately I've been really into ordering this same soup at every Thai restaurant I go to (Thaicoon, Top Spice, & Thai Chili). This is definitely one of the top two. I also got the pad thai, but forgot to take a picture.

Edamame
I am craving some edamame right now! I forgot to post this picture when I posted the rest of the Ra pictures yesterday. I'm looking at a take out menu for Thaicoon and trying to debate whether to get sushi while watching the Bachelor. I've got 40 minutes to make my decision...hm.....
edit: In the interest of time and my dwindling bank account, I'm going to eat some of the food I bought at Kroger during my snow scare over the weekend. Hopefully it will still be good. I'll take some pictures if it looks tasty.

RA
Since it's Valentine's Day and I finally got my camera cord back, I'll post some especially yummy pictures from my last dinner at Ra sushi bar in midtown Atlanta. The top picture is of the lobster spring rolls. The sauce that came with them tasted like some kind of pineapple sauce. Delish. The lower photo is of the crunchy calamari roll. It was pretty tasty, but I liked the roll I got last time better. I think that one was called the Crazy Monkey roll. These two items were on the happy hour menu so I got both half off! It's a GREAT deal for cheap sushi from 5-7 Monday through Saturday. http://www.rasushi.com/

Package Delivery!
I got packages! 2 in one day! Above is what I got from my mom and dad. They had already given me the mirror when they visited the other week. Then they sent me a package with my camera cords that I forgot and also put in a card, a magazine, and a "Mr. Right" who grows 3-4x his size in water. Interesting haha.
The one below was from Angela - chocolate, gummy bears, a vanilla cupcake scented candle, and a card! We always exchange friend Valentine's cards but I was not expecting a whole box full of goodies! That was exciting :) She is a verrrrryy good friend! And knows exactly the kinds of candy and scents that I like, like the coconut ferrero candies and gummy bears that we eat in the car on the way to beach trips.

Sushi Bar
So today I spent more than an hour repeatedly getting lost at the Lenox Square mall and not finding what I was looking for. But I did find this cute little sushi stand that popped up since the last time I went to the mall...which was in September..so that's not saying much. I just got a California roll. I don't usually like California rolls but I got a free sample and they don't put cucumber in it. I hate cucumber so this was very exciting to me. It was decent sushi. But an odd amount and now I don't know if I should eat more dinner or what to do next. I am exhausted today. Hopefully I'll get to bed early. I'm off to order the suit online that I couldn't find at the mall.

Take Out
I lied yesterday, I've gone back to my eating take out all the time ways. I was going to try the curry at Thaicoon, but I didn't have their number in my phone for take out as I was STARVING and leaving school. So I braved traffic on Briarcliff at 6pm to go to Thai Chili and order the usual panang curry with tofu & coconut soup. I've got to go eat it before it gets cold now.

My Valentine's Cupcakes
My Valentines cupcakes are not as cute as the Atlanta Cupcake Factory and pretty messy, but they had sprinkles from my fun Valentine's day sprinkle pack! Same pack that I dropped out of the cabinet yesterday and sprinkled the floor with. Oops. I don't think I cooked the cupcakes all the way and the icing wouldn't spread on. This is why I eat out a lot and buy other people desserts as presents instead of making them.
Today was a very long day at school so I came home and took 2 dance classes in a row. Dance101 (Dance101.org) is my new favorite thing in the world. I really think it's worth the expense of classes because I haven't had this much fun or stress relief through working out in a long time! I bought ballet shoes, but lately I've been going to a lot of the hip hop/urban rock/and dance fitness classes. I like the ones taught by the guys better-- I've gone to two classes taught by the same girl and she spends more time talking about her life and how she made up the dance in her living room than actually teaching or making us work up a sweat. The guys are nonstop jumping around so I feel like I'm going to die by the end of class! It's so fun though!!! Also...if I'm lacking on going out to dinner pictures it's because dance classes have replaced my takeout habit.... sorry :) but I will continue to post what I DO eat and try to keep it fun!

Veggie Burger
Veggie burger and Maggiano's leftovers again. This is how I start eating when I get bored, short of time, and haven't been grocery shopping. Hope I get to Kroger today because I am about sick of veggie burgers/veggie chicken patties/veggie barbeque. I went crazy in the Morningstar section last week because I thought it would be a great way to switch things up and use all of my hamburger buns before they went stale. No. Bad idea. Once again a limit to living and eating on your own...

Maggiano's
This is a huge bowl of chicken and mushroom pasta with marsala sauce from Maggiano's. Sorry for the bad lighting. I took lots of pictures last night at Ra but my camera cord is at home (I think, if mom ever looks for it- mom are you reading this? go look for it in my room behind the pink chair. thanks.). Anyways. This huge bowl of pasta was all mine and I am about to eat some of the frozen leftovers that I've had for a week for lunch. That's all for today, I'm too tired and hungry for anything else to be written.

update from last post!
Cecile loved the cupcakes! We're about to go to Ra for sushi. It's happy hour so appetizers and select rolls are half off 5:00-7:00! Here's a picture of after she opened the cupcake box so you can see exactly how delicious they look. Top right corner is salted caramel/vanilla, clockwise is raspberry/chocolate, chocolate/chocolate, almond/red velvet x2, and vanilla/sugarcookie! The cupcake factory posts each weeks flavors on their website so you can plan ahead.
Atlanta Cupcake Factory
Cecile's birthday is Monday and we are celebrating today so I bought her cupcakes from the Atlanta Cupcake Factory! (http://www.theatlantacupcakefactory.com/) They are the most delicious cupcakes. There's a similar place in Raleigh..I can't remember the name right now (but that's probably good because I'm about to bash them) that makes cupcakes but they are too rich and the icing is really thick and hard. These cupcakes are moist and the icing just melts in your mouth. They even make little sugar confections to go on top like little flowers, hearts, and even fish! to decorate them. The people who work there are so nice, they gave me a candle to put in one cupcake and a bunch of little happy birthday toothpicks to decorate. I'm excited to give these to Cecile, I think she just walked in the door to our apartment so I'm going to go find her!

Rootbeer Float
Wish I had this right now. A rootbeer float! This one is from Buckhead Diner (same place that I had the delicious carrot cake from 2 posts back). I just got back from the Black Eyed Peas concert and am very parched. I'm about to go get some water and head to bed. Time to get some sleep and rest up for the weekend - I love not having anything planned on Fridays.

Panang Curry from Thai Chili = love
This is a lunch sized portion of one of my favorite meals. The first week I was back in Atlanta after winter break, Cecile and I ate lunch at Thai Chili http://www.thaichilicuisine.com/...since then I have ordered the panang curry tofu 3 more times in take out. It's so good. I have trouble finding a lot of Thai that I like. I tried ordering another dish with spicy flat noodles and it tasted almost burnt or some spice that I really didn't like. But this tofu curry is so good! The dinner sized portion is about twice as big with more rice. I like the lunch one because it can still last me 2 meals and you get the coconut chicken soup with it for only $8.25. The soup is the best part for me. And somehow it stays hot even if you have ordered takeout and have to drive 15-20 minutes home. Hot enough to burn my tongue pretty bad before I learned that... I love Thai! I am wanting to try the panang curry at Thaicoon, but haven't been very impressed with them lately so I keep going back to the amazing Thai Chili. I also need to remember the name of another nearby Thai place I went to with some friends a few months ago. I had the best pad thai I've ever had there and would love to go back and write about it!

Carrots make your eyesight better...so eat this cake.
If this doesn't make you hungry - you are insane. The most amazing carrot cake I have EVER had, from Buckhead Diner (http://www.buckheadrestaurants.com/diner.html). The icing was perfectly cream cheesy and the cake so moist. See that strawberry on the side? That was maybe the best part. For the rest of my meal I had a portobello mushroom sandwich with a salad and homemade chips. The chips were delicious and the salad had the perfect amount of oil and vinegar dressing. I hate when salads have too much dressing. The sandwich wasn't the best only because I forgot I don't really like the texture of a portobello mushroom as the "meat" substitute in my sandwich. Overall, it was a great restaurant experience, much more elegant than I expected. The waiter's all had cute white outfits and acted like I was somebody important. That's nice when you're used to being young grad student me :] OH my half birthday is Saturday. 22.5. There will be celebration with food! (Actually the celebration will be Cecile's birthday dinner at RA...but that's okay, pictures to come!)
